Working toward a K-12 Standards Based Grading system. Any HS out there who does not convert to an ultimate GPA?
We have a couple years before we implement 9-12 with this system, but our biggest challenge is the expectation of a final GPA to report to post-secondary as well as meeting Activities guidelines that have a GPA participation component. Trying to problem solve NOW.

What a great questions. I'm guessing that you just participated in our Implementation webinar. If not, it is an amazing coincidence that you ask the question just a few minutes after we heard about Quakertown's standards based grading program. I am going to forward your question to the presenters from Quakertown. They may have some resources for you on the subject since the have been at this for quite awhile.

Hopefully, there are others in the RED community that can chime in as well.

Yes, we just participated in the webinar. Ironically enough, I started following Tom Murray on Twitter last night after the #edchat. Making plans to join in the #sbgchat tonight as well.

That's great to hear. Tom is a great resource. I sent him your question and I'm sure you will be getting a response in the near future.

I talked to some of my colleagues in Quakertown, as I was not here for the initial implementation of SBG. There are no high schools that we know of that do not convert to a final GPA. That doesn't mean that there are not any out there - just that we are not aware of any. One of the districts that we visited when we were exploring SBG was Adams County 50 in Colorado - but since we never considered not doing a final GPA, we really don't know their status as to how they do the high school transcript piece. We never considered not doing a final GPA because the community and parents were concerned about college acceptance. While we are pretty confident colleges would accept something other than a final GPA, it could have been a breaking point for SBG in this particular community. If you do come across some systems that have removed the final GPA, we would be interested to learn more!

So, since it seems most HS are converting...( for now). Would anyone mind sharing their conversion scales?
