Richland Two filters YouTube for students but not staff. The issue is largely because of bandwidth usage. You may want to check into YouTube for Schools - www.youtube.com/schools. YouTube for Schools permits you to allow filtered YouTube to students.

In Quakertown Community School District, we do NOT limit YouTube for teachers or staff. We find it of incredible value. Of course our typical filter settings are applied, but YouTube itself is not blocked, limited, etc. We looked at YouTube for Schools but came across a variety of limitations, etc.

Yes, we've had to have come conversation about music videos streaming, etc. We view it as a classroom management responsibility but also put the expectation out there to kids. The benefit for us as far exceeded the few headaches.

Our district recently updated our filtering system, which was a necessity to maintain the integrity of our network. However, in the process, non-educators influenced changes to our YouTube access for teachers and staff. Without notice we were only allowed YouTube for Education. I agree with the comment about unforeseen limitations, and we petitioned to restore the YouTube access to teachers and staff. Our petition was accepted. Our students have access to filtered YouTube in their student Gaggle accounts, which we have found to be educationally appropriate for students.

Janna - so do teachers have unfiltered access? I'm also wondering what you think of the student filtering. How restrictive is it? Do students complain about their access and are many still using Youtube?
