Eligibility Criteria

Is your district eligible?

Districts that meet the following criteria are invited to apply:

  • U.S. K-12 school districts (including public, charter and parochial districts).
  • Explicit buy-in and vision for change by superintendent and leadership team (tech director, principals, curriculum director, school board).
  • An existing district-wide education technology plan, which includes the vision for a one-to-one implementation.
  • Identification of the task force that will lead the one- to-one solution with a project lead/point person.
  • At least one school site in district already selected and willing to implement.
  • Commitment to subscribe to and apply the best practices and methodology of the Project RED Design™ and publish findings to the Community for a period of three years. Project RED will review the district’s customized Gantt chart and implementation for input and compliance.
  • Commitment to publicly identify themselves as a Project RED Signature District, and commitment to contribute relevant materials to the website archives and accept calls from other school districts for guidance.
  • Commitment to the sustainability of the program through secured funding and human capacity to carry out all key implementation factors for the proposed project. This should include identified backup personnel who are able and willing to replace key Project RED Design implementers should current leaders leave their positions.
  • A high-quality, consistent, ongoing professional development system that is:
    • In place by September 2012;
    • Regularly scheduled into district and school calendars for each school year;
    • Incorporates community of practice
    • Tied to outcomes involving the personalization of learning, meaningful education technologies integration, and student achievement; and
    • Includes the development of internal capacity of lead teachers or a train the trainer model for coaching/mentoring.
