Selection Criteria

How will districts be chosen?

Districts will be selected based upon ability to meet the Eligibility Requirements, as well as the following selection criteria that must be built into proposed project plans:

  1. Selection of devices based upon desired student outcomes and functionalities.
    Strong applicants will show evidence of thoughtful device selection based upon the unique needs of their student population and desired functionalities of the devices.
  2. A system for tracking outcome data for three years in the following categories: student achievement, shift in teaching practice from teacher to student-centered, revenue outcomes.
    Applicants should demonstrate the capability to track and report outcomes for all three categories over a three-year span. Strong applications will include both quantitative and qualitative measurements.
  3. A robust infrastructure so that:
  • All students and teachers can simultaneously access the school WiFi in all learning spaces with a minimum of 1 Mbps/user;
  • Bandwidth and access to the Internet allow for student/staff to work online effectively, with a capacity of 100 Kbps/second/student;
  • Servers (school or district) allow for content delivery such as video, digital resources, content creation and storage;
  • Sufficient tech support to provide 99+% availability of all system components; and
  • Visible refresh and maintenance schedules.

In addition to the requirements above, strong applications will demonstrate an infrastructure to support the key uses defined by the proposed project in a seamless and effective fashion.
